It is finally ready to take centre stage once again...

The world most famous and well-loved steam locomotive is back, after a multimillion pound renovation and overhaul it is finally ready to take centre stage once again.

In March 2016 for 7 days the iconic steam engine will be running along the North Yorkshire Moors Railway once again. It will be the first opportunity to ride behind and witness this amazing sight for the first time since the overhaul.

The anticipation and expectation is huge and this heritage line is the perfect place to launch The Flying Scotsman once again.

Philip Benham, Managing Director of the NYMR, said:

“We are absolutely delighted that the overhaul of ‘Scotsman’ is approaching completion and looking forward to being the first heritage railway in the country to welcome this prestigious locomotive fully decked out in its final colours. This record-breaking locomotive is probably the world’s most famous engine, and the only survivor out of a class of 78 making it a very special engine.

We are looking forward to creating many opportunities for the public to enjoy the Flying Scotsman experience whilst she is here. We would encourage anyone with a keen interest to keep checking our web pages and the media for the most up to date information.”

The NYMR links Pickering and Grosmont along 18 miles of preserved railway. It attracts come 350,000 visitors per year making it the world’s busiest heritage railway.
